Daventry District Council (DDC) has received national recognition for its green credentials after being awarded the highest level of an environmental accreditation scheme.
It has won an Investors in the Environment (iiE) Green Award, which is presented to organisations that can demonstrate excellent progress in minimising their own impact on the environment and making improvements to their local community.
DDC achieved the Green Award after demonstrating improvements made in areas such as resource efficiency. It also met other essential criteria including having a recycling system in place, adopting a green travel plan and a carbon reduction plan.
Councillor Daniel Cribbin, environment portfolio holder at Daventry District Council, said: “We are delighted to have achieved the Investors in the Environment accreditation, which demonstrates our leading role as an authority with excellent green credentials.
