Details about the new Northampton College campus in Daventry have been unveiled this week, with the multi-million pound building set to be divided into practical, technology and learning floors.

The building, off Badby Road West, is due to be completed and open to students by this autumn which means students joining the college in September 2016 will have just weeks in the current building, before moving into the new build just 100 metres away.

The college has also announced that all full-time students enrolling for September 2016 will receive a free HP Chromebook, to facilitate learning and creativity.

Principal Pat Brennan-Barrett said: “As well as benefiting from a brand new campus our Daventry full time students will receive a free HP Chromebook, which is fast, safe and enables easy access to education apps and cloud storage. “Success rates at our Daventry Campus are already very high and our ambition is to make sure that all our students are well equipped to successfully achieve their qualifications.”

Jo Davies, Centre Co-ordinator of Daventry Campus, said: “Staff and students are incredibly excited about moving into the new building, which is really taking shape now. It feels like it has been a long time coming but the wait will be so worth it.”

The ground floor of the three floor College campus will be dedicated to hands-on and practical learning. Facilities will include motor vehicle workshops, hairdressing and beauty therapy salons, café, student and enrolment centre and supported learning area for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

Moulton College students, who until now have been based in a neighbouring building, will move into the new campus and, based on the ground floor, will be able to study plumbing, brick-laying, carpentry and animal welfare.

Upstairs and on the College’s first floor will be Daventry’s new Digital Academy, which is set to teach students software and coding, web development, games design and social media. The first floor will also boast ICT suites, state of the art library facilities and art studios, including kilns.

On the top floor will be the general purpose classrooms for healthcare students and a childcare craft area.

Daventry Campus has been made possible due to funding from Daventry District Council and £6.5 million from South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) Local Growth Fund.
