The 30th anniversary of a village morris dancing side will be marked this weekend.
Royal Oak Morris will mark their group’s birthday on Saturday October 3 with a mini-tour.
The side will perform at the Royal Oak in Eydon from about 3pm onwards, and then move on to Byfield Village Hall.
Eight other morris sides from Northamptonshire and surrounding counties will join them in the celebrations.
Jane Murray from Royal Oak Morris, said: “The two founders of Royal Oak Morris are Kevin Lodge and John Cannell – these two stalwart gentlemen have unfailingly nurtured the spirit of morris throughout the last 30 years and, thanks to them, Royal Oak are still going strong, still playing their part in keeping alive the music and dance traditions of our local villages.
“New members of any age and both sexes are warmly welcomed, to share the fun of traditional dancing in front of local audiences, whether it’s in the street outside the pub, at town and village events, at fetes and festivals, or for special family occasions. Practice is every Thursday night at Eydon Village Hall.”
