A charity calendar featuring some of the men who work out at a village gym has gone on sale.

Buckby Health & Leisure launched its 2016 fundraising calendar this month.

The A3 calendar features photos of some of the men who use the gym working out on the equipment.

Margaret Chambers, who works at the gym, said: “I’d say the theme of the calendar is guys and baby oil! We normally do some type of fundraising for different charities every year. Back in May we came up with the idea. We get a lot of people coming to use the gym at night so we went and asked them.

“The lads all said yes – not that there was any chance for them to say no! But they were all really up for it.

“They didn’t seem too bothered by the idea, but suddenly there were lads doing extra sessions in the gym.

“It created a really good atmosphere really – everyone was having fun.

“There’s about 12 guys who took park – it’s not one big photo a month, there’s a selection.”

The calendars are raising money for two charities – Bliss Baby Charity and Children Are Butterflies

Bliss raises money for equipment to help babies born too soon, too small or too sick in the UK.

Children Are Butterflies is a Northampton-based charity providing support and assistance to bereaved families who have lost a child of any age.

Margaret said: “My daughter Claire suggested doing something for children’s charities and something local too.

“We do something every year for different charities. We’ve raised money for DACT, Help 4 Heroes, and more.

“All the money we raise from selling the calendars will go to the charities – we have already paid for the printing so there are no costs to cover.”

The calendars have no gone on sale in Long Buckby, priced at £7.50.

The are available from Buckby Health & Leisure and the Peephole.
