Daventry Town Council gives its back to '˜Clean for the Queen'

The town council is backing the Clean for the Queen event that is taking place across the country on the weekend of March 4 to 6 in preparation for the Queen’s 90th birthday in April.

As part of the initiative Daventry Town Council is working with community leaders, the Daventry District Council (DDC) and its partners including its environmental services contractor Enterprise Managed Services (EMS), Daventry & District Housing, Bedford Pilgrams Housing association and Bromford Housing association to organise and support clean-up events within Daventry.

Daventry Town Council will focus on supporting community leader Sharon Moore’s organised tidy-up of the Southbrook, and would encourage members of the Daventry community to join in and meet at Southbrook Community Centre on Saturday

March 5 at 11am. The tidy up will finish at 1.30pm.

Locally, there are a number of events taking place led by our partner organisations and Daventry’s Town Mayor is rising to the challenge, so far joining in three of the organised clean ups.

Community Leader Sharon Moore from the Southbrook estate said: “We need to be proud of the areas we live in to show our children, grandchildren that litter belongs in bins and not on the floor.

“So it is down to us a parents, grandparents to show what a community can do together. Let’s start small but make a BIG difference.”

Daventry Town Mayor Councillor Wendy Randall, added: “Clean for the Queen is an excellent opportunity for the whole community to come together to show they care about where they live.”
