DAVENTRY Model Railway Club is steaming ahead with plans to move into a new home.
The club, currently based in the High Street, has submitted a change of use application to Daventry District Council (DDC) to move to a new base in Austin Way on the Royal Oak industrial estate.
It has been running since October 2010 and has 16 members currently but if given the go-ahead the plans would help the club to expand.
Member Terrence Rowe said: “If all of the members of the club turn up then there is not enough space for us all in the one room. We have actually outgrown the space that we have at the moment.
“We have spoken to DDC who have been enormously helpful in helping us to find a new home.
“It will make a huge difference to us. It means we can have the two layouts and help to develop the youth side of our club.”
The new club would be based on the two floors with the models on the ground floor. On the first floor will be a work bench area, an office and a reference area.
He added that the club could move into its new premises at the start of June if permission is granted.
