A DAVENTRY family is fundraising to try to get their daughter a football scholarship in the USA.

Jodie Lintern, 16, from Dryden Avenue on the Headlands, has set her target to get an American scholarship for a four-year university course at a football academy.

Her mother Debbie Thomas said: “We need £2,500 for the consultants who then try and get Jodie a place on a course in the USA.

“If she did get a scholarship she’d be playing football and getting a university education for free.

“Jodie did really well in her GCSEs, getting three A*s, three As and five B grades.

“She’s now studying sports science at Moulton College, and she’s taken it upon herself to go to night school and do an AS in English.

“She’s a great girl who works very hard, but as a family we cannot afford to pay for this. We don’t want money to be an obstacle so we’re doing all we can to raise the cash.”
