Daventry firm celebrates its 25 anniversary on Christmas Eve

A Daventry firm is marking its 25th anniversary on Christmas Eve.

Catering Design Group (CDG), the award-winning Daventry based restaurant and commercial kitchen design company for the hospitality industry, is gearing up for a very merry Christmas, as it prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary on Christmas Eve.

Established on Christmas Eve 1990, by Philip Howard, the current managing director, with just one other member of staff, the business has gone from strength to strength, enjoying today, a 23 strong team.

The company will celebrate its milestone anniversary with a commemorative lunch and will be marking the auspicious occasion by giving back to its staff in the long term, with an extra day’s holiday on their birthdays.

During its 25th anniversary year, the business enjoyed a 25 per cent increase in staff, which includes two newly created positions for a business development director and creative director, together with three internal promotions across the management team.

Phillip Howard said: “Hospitality has always been in my blood. I’ve spent my entire career in the hospitality industry and have a genuine passion and commitment to it.

“We spent December 1990 busy setting up the business and getting our house in order, ready to start officially trading in January 1991. However, our certificate of registration actually arrived on Christmas Eve, so we thought – why not, we’re ready to go and what better way to celebrate Christmas than starting a new venture on Christmas Eve!

“We are enjoying continuous organic growth, which has a great deal to do with the fantastic team I have here.

“I want to create a legacy for the future, so that the team continues to deliver on our great service and reputation. We continue to evolve the company, enabling us to offer a complete service to a wide range of clients. We offer annual design placements for students from Nottingham Trent University as we’re passionate about nurturing and developing the next generation of CDG.

“We have ambitious growth plans to double our turnover in five years with a clearly defined strategy. We will continue to love what we do and do best – working closely with other passionate people in the industry to assist our clients as they grow. Roll on the next 25 years.”
