The 56-strong team from Badby Park, part of Elysium Healthcare, organised a walk around the grounds of the home as their contribution to the company target of 24,901 miles in 70 days - the equivalent distance of the circumference of the earth.

Badby Park, in Badby Road West, is a specialist care home which provides rehabilitation, long term care, respite and palliative care for people with progressive neurological illnesses, acquired brain injuries and spinal injuries.

The idea for the ‘Around The World’ challenge came from Elysium’s Wellbeing Team, who work across the company helping staff reduce stress in the workplace and manage their own wellbeing through healthy living, mindfulness and relaxation.

The Badby Park team, which included residents in wheelchairs, managed to clock up an impressive 30.2 miles around the footpaths and driveway of the 50 acre site.

Home manager Lesley Collins said it was wonderful to see so many people take part.

She said: “We are so fortunate that we have such beautiful grounds to hold this event in and it was great to see all our staff, residents and family members being able to enjoy them together.

“Our brilliant team members face daily pressures that demand a huge amount of them, as a result tension and stress can build up over time.”

All the walkers said they enjoyed taking part in the challenge. The group hopes to raise more than £5,000 for Young Minds, Carers UK, CALM and The Brain Charity.
