A Daventry businesswoman and baking enthusiast has fulfilled a long held dream and opened a shop where other cake bakers can buy all the equipment they need.
Rebecca Dudgeon has opened her shop All Things Cakey in Prince William Walk, off Sheaf Street, in Daventry.
The shop is hosting an open day on Friday, December 4, from noon until 8pm when guests can enjoy demonstrations and complimentary drinks and nibbles. There will also be a chance to pick up some Christmas gifts at special offer prices, and a charity raffle to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Rebecca opened the shop after making and baking cakes professionally for several years.
She said: “I was finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with demand from home. Finding supplies at reasonable prices locally has always been a problem, and before opening this shop I would have to travel the country and beyond to find the right items or pay huge carriage fees and wait long periods if ordering online. Our products are aimed at the many great cake makers in the area as well as first time bakers. All Things Cakey is a local one-stop shop for experienced bakers as well as a place for inexperienced bakers to go for help and advice.
“Opening a cake shop was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and now seemed like the right time. I was kindly offered the opportunity to take over half of LA’s Flower Craft in Prince William Walk by the owner Linda Seabrook. It’s been great working alongside Linda and getting to see a different side to floristry.
