Midsummer’s Secret is a thrilling misadventure inspired by, and featuring, Daventry and the surrounding area. But one particular landmark many residents will recognise is the old open air swimming pool, or Lido, which inspired the story.

He said: “Back in 1962, the mayor said that ‘the opening of the pool was probably the most outstanding event in the history of the borough’, which might be news to anyone who only recognises the site as waste ground and car park. Yet for those of us who were lucky enough to have frequented the Lido, this will come as no surprise. I contribute to the Daventry in History Facebook page and often see a large number of heart-felt comments when anyone adds a memory of the pool.”

Midsummer’s Secret is available in paperback and Kindle from Amazon.
