LOLLIPOP ladies will be scrapped and bus subsidies cut after Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) approved its controversial budget.
The largest cuts faced by the authority in years were confirmed last week, despite the Conservative leaders admitting it was the last thing they wanted to do.
During an eight-hour meeting at County Hall in Northampton the budget proposals, which were first revealed in December, were finally approved after a feisty debate.
The cuts include controversial measures such as withdrawing funding from speed cameras, turning off half the county’s street lights, remodelling social care services and cutting around 900 council jobs.
