Cummins in Daventry cerfified as a '˜zero disposal' facility

Daventry's Cummins factory has been declared as a '˜zero disposal' facility.

The certification from the factory’s headquarters means the Daventry Engine Plant now handles 100 percent of waste in a truly useful manner.

That means waste does not get sent to landfill, instead all efforts are made to recycle and reuse waste, and what is left is incinerated but must be burnt in a way to generate power.

Like most firms, for years Cummins has been recycling and reusing parts of its waste, but dealing with the final few percent proved to be a problem – items such as food waste and food packaging brought into the plant by workers.
