Criticism of police plans

THE body representing police officers in Northamptonshire has hit out at Government plans to slash budgets and cut pay.

Roy Wooliscroft, chairman of Northamptonshire’s Police Federation, said proposals unveiled by Home Secretary Theresa May could result in a seriously reduced service to the public.

The Police Federation last week saw the Home Secretary implement radical changes to policing that will result in an overhaul and a change in dynamics of policing in the UK.

The changes include cutting the police budget by 20 per cent, overhauling the infrastructure of the policing system and reviewing pay.
