Woman in her 20s victim of night-time sex attack while walking on Daventry's Black Path

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted on Daventry's Black Path.

Officers revealed the attacker struck as the woman walked along the former railway line between 7.30pm and 8.30pm last Wednesday (January 6)

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The attacker is described as a white man about 40 years old, tall with dark eyes and of a stocky build.

"He was wearing a blue beanie hat with a single white stripe going horizontally across it, blue denim jeans and a brown or khaki-coloured jacket with a rimmed collar.

"Anyone with any information regarding this incident or CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at that time is asked to call 101 using incident number 21000009852. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111."

Police say a 41-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
