Joseph Craig, of Pilgrims Lane, Bugbrooke, caused serious injuries, including a fractured chest bone, to a man and a woman after his Ford Fiesta collided with their vehicle at the crossroads of Banbury Lane and Kislingbury Road in Rothersthorpe on August 7 last year.

Northampton Crown Court heard the force of the collision caused both vehicles to go into the air for a short period.

Jonathan Dunne, prosecuting, said the investigating officer estimated the speed of Craig’s vehicle at impact as 60mph.

The man and woman in the other vehicle both suffered a fractured sternum and the man was in hospital for a week as he also suffered a broken vertebrae.

Sentencing was adjourned until May 27. Craig was released on unconditional bail.

His Honour Judge Timothy Smith said he was keeping “all sentencing options open”.
