A schoolboy suffered a cut and head injuries during a shocking assault in Daventry's skate park on the day school's broke up for summer.

Officers have issued a description of the shirtless attacker who punched the 15-year-old victim in the face and then hit him in the head with a knee as he fell.

The offender — also believed to be a teenager — approached the victim between 3.35pm and 3.50pm, near to the tennis bench area of the town's Recreation Ground, on Friday (July 17).

The skate park is just yards from Daventry police station.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman added: "The 15-year-old boy fell as he was punched and the offender continued to assault him once he was on the ground, hitting the boy in the head with his knee.

"As a result of the incident the boy sustained a cut above his eyebrow and two lumps on his forehead.

"The offender is described as being of mixed race, 5ft 8in, of a muscular build with medium brown Afro-style hair and wearing no top. Prior to the assault he was seen with two other boys next to the ramps area.
