Police are warning locals to keep their homes and sheds locked after two men threatened and punched a 19-year-old walking along a Daventry footpath yesterday.

Detectives believe the incident was an attempted robbery and have issued descriptions of two attackers who struck on a footpath near one of the town's schools.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "The 19-year-old was walking along the path which runs between Hood Street and Tovey Drive, behind Southbrook Primary School when two men approached him.

"One threatened the victim and punched him in the face.

"The first offender is described as a tanned white man in his early 20s, over 6ft tall and of average build with brushed back, short black hair, a beard. He was also carrying a green bottle.

"The other man is described as a slim, pale white man just under 6ft, also in his early 20s, with short dark hair.

"If anybody saw this incident or may have seen two men matching this description in the area, p[ease contact us by calling 101 using incident number 20000345980 — or they can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
