Traffic police seized drugs and cash, an Audi stolen in London, a caravan stolen from Liverpool and a host of uninsured vehicles on a busy day on Northamptonshire's roads yesterday (Wednesday).

One person was arrested after an Audi Q7 which had been identified by as a possible cloned vehicle with stolen plates by the Metropolitan Police was found in Northampton.

Officers also quickly identified a caravan had been swiped from Merseyside after stopping a Ford Transit van suspected of having stolen plates.

Both vehicles were seized and one person taken into custody.

Drugs and a large amount of cash was found after Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology flagged up an uninsured Ford Focus driving in the county.

The vehicle initially failed to stop but was finally cornered in a residential estate where officers uncovered the haul. The driver also had no licence.

And, finally, a Hyundai pimped to support the NHS was found dumped in a service road next to the A6 between Irthlingborough and Higham Ferrers — still with the keys inside.

Northants Armed Response Vehicle team tweeted: "After today’s successful haul of seized stolen vehicles, a vehicle used in crime on stolen plates and one with a dodgy paint job, let’s not forget the humble uninsured Toyota.

"If you reside in or visit Northants be warned if you’re not road legal we’ll seize it."
