Police with dogs arrested a suspected burglar who rammed their vehicle in a bid to escape following an attempted break-in at a building site last night.

The driver of a white Ford Transit smashed his van into the police vehicle before trying to flee on foot across fields near Daventry.

But he was finally collared by PD Ebby after a one-and-a-half mile chase — sniffed out hiding in a metal shed in a sheep field.
