Police dog sniffs out suspect hiding in West Northamptonshire sheep shed after 1½-mile chase

Police with dogs arrested a suspected burglar who rammed their vehicle in a bid to escape following an attempted break-in at a building site last night.

The driver of a white Ford Transit smashed his van into the police vehicle before trying to flee on foot across fields near Daventry.

But he was finally collared by PD Ebby after a one-and-a-half mile chase — sniffed out hiding in a metal shed in a sheep field.

Police were called following reports of an attempted burglary at a building site in Clock Meadow, Byfield, at about 9.30pm on Wednesday (April 28).

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police confirmed a 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary ad appealed for any witnesses with information to call 101.
