Police discover drugs factory in town centre home after answering 999 call to robbery

Police answering a 999 call to a suspected robbery discovered a drugs factory spread over three floors of a town-centre house in Daventry.
Officers rushed to the property in Sheaf Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning (June 16) responding to reports of shouting and a gang attempting to kick down a door.

Hide AdOnce on the scene, however, they found more than 100 cannabis plants and are now working to find who is behind the factory.
A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police revealed: "We were called to the address as someone had heard loud shouting outside the door and a group of males trying to kick their way in.
"No one was there when we arrived but more than 100 cannabis plants at various stages of growth were seized.
"The cultivation was spread across four rooms on three floors and out detectives are now working to establish who is responsible for the growth."

Hide AdThis latest find follows a number of raids by drug squad officers in Northampton, Kettering and Corby in recent weeks.
Police released a dramatic video of a raid in Northampton as part of five dawn swoops on addresses in the area by cops from the Operation Viper squad.
Officer in charge Superintendent Chris Hillery said: “There is a huge amount of energy and determination among our cops across Northampton at the moment to tackle the issues that are affecting our local communities and bring the people bringing those areas down to justice.
“The majority of people in Northampton are hardworking, decent members of society and they do not deserve to live in fear due to a small minority who think committing crime is acceptable.

Hide Ad“We have really taken the fight to this minority in the past couple of months with some great proactive policing and I look forward to continuing to do so.
