Police were called after two men were seen to be taking apart a display shed and loading it into a blue Ford transit van outside Homebase in Daventry at about 8.55pm last night (November 18).

Officers were deployed to the scene where they then pursued the van along Nobottle Road. The van failed to stop and eventually crashed in Ryeland Road.

The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled. After an intense police chase, one of the offenders - a 19-year-old man - was detained.

The second man, 47, was discovered hiding in a nearby garden by PD Nala after she tracked him through the grounds of Duston School.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of theft, dangerous driving and failing to stop. Both are still in police custody.
