Magistrates fined a motorist £80 after he admitted being on the wrong side of the road and causing a head-on crash which left two people seriously injured.

Northampton Magistrates Court heard 59-year-old Lawrence Annang was behind the wheel of a VW Golf which when it collided with a Hyundai Tuscon on the A5199 near Welford in September 2019.

Annang, of Castle Combe, Rugby, pleaded guilty to causing the collision as he was not fully in his own lane.

Magistrates fined him £80 with orders to pay £32 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 costs. He also had his licence endorsed with six penalty points.

One occupant of the Tuscon suffered detached sternum and bruising to their heart, another had a fractured sternum and severe bruising to chest and abdomen.
