Man who stabbed another on a Daventry street is still on the run from police

A man who stabbed another man on an estate road in Daventry is still on the run from police.

The incident happened on Saturday evening in The Severn, on the town’s Grange estate.

At about 10.40pm a man was stabbed in the street by an assailant receiving serious injuries.

Northamptonshire Police were called and residents were asked to call 999 if they saw the suspect.

One resident is understood to have called the police after possibly seeing the man and armed officers were deployed to the area. The force also deployed its helicopter to aid officers searching on the ground.

Door-to-door inquiries were also carried out during the evening to try to locate the man police want to speak to, and have continued since.

It is understood police have identified the person they want to talk to in relation to the stabbing, but he has not yet been located, and inquiries are on-going as of yesterday (Wednesday).

The injured man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He remained in hospital as of the time of going to press. Police say his condition is stable.

Officers said the attack was an isolated incident. The Daventry Express understands those involved knew each other.
