Man, 29, arrested after car driven towards 16-year-old on Towcester footpath

Police arrested a man on suspicion of assault after a 16-year-old boy was in collision with a car while walking on a footpath in Towcester.

The 29-year-old, said to be from the town, has been released under investigation.

And officers are appealing for witnesses in the area or any passing motorists who may have dashcam footage of Sunday's incident to come forward and help the investigation.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesman said: "A red Vauxhall Astra was in collision with a 16-year-old boy on the footpath in Bickerstaffes Road, resulting in him receiving minor injuries.

"The incident took place between 5.30pm and 6pm on Sunday (July 12) and we would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have CCTV or dash cam footage of the collision to contact us on 101 using reference number 20000357044. Or, if you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
