And Chief Constable Nick Adderley was the first to welcome his newest recruit.

Mr Adderley tweeted: "Yet another colleague joins the rank and file of the great Northants Police team. Congratulations PD Koda - to your duties, commence."

Koda — with handler PC Marta Murray — follows hot on the paws of PD Ebby, who joined the force last month and quickly nabbed her first arrest .. traaking down a suspect attempting to steal from a building site.

The dog section has its own Twitter account which regularly updates followers on the achievements of the county's canine force.
