Allotment holders in Daventry are being warned to be on the lookout for thieves following a string of produce thefts in the past few days.
The Welton Road allotments have been targeted and several lots of produce stolen, the most recent of which happened some time between 5pm yesterday (Monday, July 25) and 7am today.
Netting covering the produce was ripped up and the produce picked by the thieves.
PC Barry Gargett said: “We’re asking for owners to be vigilant around their allotments and to report any suspicious behaviour or further incidents of theft.
“We are also asking for those who live nearby to be watchful, particularly at night, and to report any suspicious behaviour.”
Anyone with information can contact Northamptonshire Police on 101. Alternatively, they can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
