Death of Daniel Sullivan in Northampton no longer being treated as murder

A death in Northampton that is being investigated by police is no longer being treated as murder.

Daniel Sullivan, of Bailiff Street, died close to the Racecourse at around 10.50am on June 30 when police and paramedics were called to St George's Avenue.Two men were later arrested as it was believed a fatal stab wound killed the 38-year-old.

However after officers have spent the last week speaking to witnesses, examining evidence and looking into Daniel’s life, they are now of the belief that no one else was involved in his death, a spokesman said.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Pete Long, said: “My thoughts continue to be with Daniel’s family and friends as they try to come to terms with his death.

“My team has worked tirelessly since we were called to the Racecourse last week to establish the facts around what happened, and we now believe no one else was involved in the events that led to Daniel’s death.

“The details of the case will now be shared with the Coroner ahead of an inquest which will determine the cause and circumstances of Daniel’s death.”

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have any information about Daniel’s death to contact them if they have not already done so, as they prepare a report for the Coroner.

Anyone who was in the Racecourse are between 9.30am and 11am on Tuesday, June 30, or if they think they may have some information that could assist the investigation, should call police on 101.
