Daventry shop robbed by man with machete

A man armed with a machete and wearing a balaclava robbed a shop in Daventry.

The man entered the Co-op in Edinburgh Square, on the Headlands estate, just before 5pm on Wednesday, January 13, and demanded that staff hand over cash.

After taking money from the till, the man, who is pictured, left the store and headed off in the direction of Highfield Road.

He was white, between 5ft and 5ft 5in, had blue eyes and a northern accent.

He was wearing a grey Adidas tracksuit, a black balaclava and was carrying a red bag.

Officers investigating the case are particularly keen to speak to anyone who saw the man either before he entered the shop or just after.

Witnesses, or anyone who knows anything about this incident or recognises the man from the CCTV image, can call Northamptonshire Police on 101.
