A Daventry man has been jailed for ten months after being caught behind the wheel while banned for a SECOND time.

Steven Paul Hart, 35, was stopped in a Rover 25 in Wordsworth Road in the town on January 31 — just six weeks after Northampton magistrates handed down a 20-week sentence suspended for two years following a similar offence in June last year.

Hart, of Cowper Road, also admitted driving with no insurance and possession of a quantity of cannabis, a class B drug.

This time, magistrates jailed Hart for 22 weeks on top of the 20-week suspended term and disqualified him from holding a licence for a further five years.

He was ordered to pay a £128 surcharge to fund victim services and £85 prosecution costs.
