Aaron Leggett, of Timken Way, Daventry, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with causing the death of Dumitru Gonta, aged 28, shortly before 5pm on May 18 last year.

The court heard Leggett was driving a Nissan Skyline GT-R along Prospect Way in Daventry when it was involved in a collision with Mr Gonta’s bicycle.

Mr Gonta was taken by air ambulance to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries but died later the same day.

Leggett offered no indication of his plea to the charge of causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction in the case. Leggett will appear at Northampton Crown Court in April.
