Daventry Town Council has agreed to take steps to beef up security following a spate of vandalism on Drayton allotments.

Plot holders at the Orchard Street allotments have been targeted 10 times since August 10, with vandals trampling on vegetables, stealing produce and smashing shed windows.

Following a town council meeting on Monday, Deborah Jewell, town clerk, said “The town council is going to work with the police and the allotment holders to review the security with a view to seeing what can be done to deal with the problem.”
