County economy is ‘showing resilience’

THE leader of Northamptonshire County Council has said the county’s economy is showing ‘resilience’ despite the recession in the UK.

In his annual state of the county address, cllr Jim Harker said the latest Quarterly Economic Survey in the county had shown positive signs for the future.

He said: “It is as important as ever to highlight the resilience of Northamptonshire’s economy, which is the largest in the East Midlands, contributing around £13.5 billion to the nation annually.”

Cllr Harker said the latest survey had shown that businesses in Northamptonshire have reported a significant increase in export sales during the first quarter of 2012.
