PEOPLE paying their council tax or other bills at Daventry District Council will face extra charges from Monday.
Settling bills with the council using a credit card will incur an extra 1.9 per cent charge.
The fee is already charged to the authority for every credit card transaction. In a drive to save money, DDC says it will start passing this extra charge onto customers.
Paying by other methods, including debit cards, will not incur this charge.
Ian Vincent, managing director at Daventry District Council, said: “The surcharge brings DDC in line with many other neighbouring local authorities and central government bodies.”
