Council approves CCTV plans

New developments to reinvigorate Daventry’s town centre will now include 50 new CCTV cameras, it has emerged.

At a meeting of the town council on Monday, councillors gave the go ahead to roll out the security system in the planned Mulberry Place shopping centre and the new supermarket proposed for the Braunston Road/Ashby Road roundabout after plans were submitted by Northamptonshire police and approved by planners.

The planned undercroft car park beneath Mulberry Place will have 27 cameras.

Developer Henry Boot will play a contribution towards the security, with the rest provided by the town council. All of the CCTV cameras will be owned and maintained by developer Henry Boot and linked to the town council’s current CCTV system.
