Thomas George and David Swinfen, who work at GE Power in Rugby, aim to complete the ride in just four days.

They have been talking about the challenge for a long time and decided this year they would take the plunge.

Thomas is raising money for Cynthia Spencer Hospice in Northampton and David’s sponsorship will go to Prostate Cancer UK.

Thomas said: “I chose the hospice because they took great care of my grandad when he was ill before he passed away.

“Raising money for the hospice is my way of giving something back to them.

“It’s such a worthy cause that is close to my heart.”

Thomas, who lives in Daventry, said they will start the ride from their workplace in Rugby.

“We are doing this completely unsupported and aim to complete it in four days,” he added.

Their trip will start with 95 miles on day one from Rugby to Slough; 80 miles from Slough to Brighton on day two; day three will be 10 miles from Brighton to Newhaven, then ferry to Dieppe and 65 miles to Beauvais; on day four they will cycle 45 miles from Beauvais to Paris, finishing at the Arc De Triomphe.

Thomas said: “We are really looking forward to the ride and hope to get lots of sponsors.”
