A hair salon in Daventry is celebrating all the highlights of being in business for 60 years.
Hays Hair and Beauty owner Clare Miller was actually born on the premises in High Street in the late 1950s.
The salon was set up by her mother Ann Hay – a respected hairdresser who is thought to have been the first in Daventry to actually colour hair.
When she left school, Clare trained in London and worked alongside her mother for more than 20 years and eventually took over the business.
Clare said: “I still see some of her regulars and enjoy listening to the fun stories they have to tell.
“One future bride back in the 60s used the bath upstairs in the salon on her wedding day as she had no water at home!”
The team will show hair styles through the ages at an event to mark the anniversary.
It takes place in the leisure centre’s Saxon Suite, Lodge Road, Daventry, from 5pm to 7.30pm on Sunday, March 13.
Tickets for the event are £5.
