CHILDREN at Newnham Primary School received a festive surprise on Monday in their first December assembly.
Pupils entered a darkened assembly hall to find a Christmas tree donated to them by Homebase of Daventry. The children then helped to decorate it and learn about Christmas traditions.
Acting headteacher at the school Kim Cresswell said the children were full of joy and excitement when decorating the tree.
Pupil Cara Yong said: “We had to decide if we want an angel or a star on top, to remind us of the glad tidings brought by angels or the star followed by the three kings.”
Pupil Holly James added: “I’m so glad they gave us a lovely tree.”
Mrs Cresswell said a huge thank you to Homebase on behalf of the school.
