Christmas cards hot off the press

CHILDREN’S TV favourite Timmy Mallet joined our Christmas Card Competition winners this week to see their designs coming off the press.

Daventry-based printing company JR Press donated all the print costs for the cards, which will be on sale across the area this Christmas.

Timmy Mallet selected the winning designs from hundreds of entries and every penny from the proceeds will go to Daventry-based charity Pete Spencer’s Helping Hands Memorial Fund.

Isabella Carroll, who is aged five and goes to East Haddon Primary School, won for her design in the Under Eights age category.

And Braunston Primary School pupil Gemma Grace, who is eight, won in the eight to 12s category.

Louise Knowler, who’s been helping to co-ordinate the project, said: “The children really enjoyed seeing the cards coming off the press.

“It was great to see Timmy getting involved and everyone had a fun afternoon at JR Press.

“Pete Spencer’s Helping Hands is a great charity to support because it helps children in the area, and this is appropriate as it is a competition which involved children designing cards.

“We are now looking to raise as much money as possible over the coming weeks.”
