Daventry children took to the rugby field this week for the last of the summer camps from
Everyone Active 2012 in partnership with Daventry District Council.

Around 18 children aged six to 11 came to Daventry Sports Park on Tuesday and Wednesday to learn the basics of the game and meet new people.

Sports Development Coordinator at the Daventry Leisure Centre, Alex Le Guevel, said: “There was a real mix of children and they were doing all sorts of things and progressing in a sport they wouldn’t usually be doing, so it was really good.

“Everyone really enjoyed it and even when it rained the children were inside doing skills games and quizzes but really it just gave them a chance to do something they haven’t done before and overall we were lucky with the weather.”

Everyone Active will soon be launching their after-school clubs to keep children entertained in half-term.

These are likely to be held at the end of October and in January when new sports, such as handball and gymnastics, will be available to Daventry children.
