PUPILS at Ashby Fields Primary School enjoyed a sports day with a difference on Monday when coaches from the Northampton Town Football Club paid a visit.
A morning of sports training was one of the main events of the day followed by an afternoon of mock press conferences and writing exercises.
PE coordinator and year two teacher Hannah Parish said: “The whole school got involved and the children loved it and were really engaged.
“They did news reports and football themed poems and drama and later had a chance to buy tickets for the team’s next match.”
Trained coaches from the club lead the day but as players were unable to make it the school will receive a signed T-shirt from the club.
The day was designed to educate the children in a different way and strengthen relationships between the school and community club.
