COUPLES celebrating Valentine’s Day with a romantic meal are being encouraged by Daventry District Council to check out the scores on the doors of eateries before they dine out.
The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme gives businesses stars based on hygiene standards inspections carried out by Daventry District Council (DDC).
Rating run from 0, which means ‘urgent improvement necessary’ to 5 which is ‘very good’.
Cllr Richard Atterbury, DDC environmental health and housing portfolio holder, said: “Valentine’s Day is a busy time for our local restaurants, cafés and pubs and it’s great news that the majority of food businesses in Daventry district have a rating of three stars or above.
“Food hygiene ratings make it easier to choose to eat in places where food hygiene is taken seriously.
“Our council is committed to maintaining and improving food safety standards in the district and the latest findings on how we are doing in relation to other local authorities demonstrates the excellent efforts of environmental health officers.”
