A TOWN fundraising group has said a big thank you after collecting more than £600 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The Daventry Free Spirits raised the cash by climbing Mount Snowdon over the previous weekend (Saturday and Sunday June 18 and 19), and the group already has more fundraising events planned.

Organiser Sara Jelley said: “We want to thank all the sponsors who helped us raise the money.

“We followed the slow path up the mountain and all managed it in seven-and-a-half hours with lots of stops to admire the views and catch our breath.”

In July the group will be holding a ‘Blooming Great Tea Party’ in Norton and will also be involved in a bring and buy sale and the Long Buckby Feast over the summer months.

A Christmas dinner and dance is also being arranged to raise further funds.

The group is also looking for new members. Anyone interested should email
