Chancellor of the Exchequer visits night shift staff at DIRFT in Northamptonshire
He went to the Tesco distribution centre at DIRFT at 1.30am experiencing a sleepless night ahead of the publication of figures which revealed growth in the UK economy of 0.6 percent in the second quarter of the year.
It was the final stop for the night for the Chancellor who saw rail delivering trucks loaded and unloaded at the depot which runs throughout the night. He saw a train to Scotland being loaded and said he would be back to watch the day shift later this morning.

Hide AdHe has also been to a super bakery and a motorway and he praised the people who work night shifts througout the country.
Mr Osborne said: “Millions of Britons work late shifts and work nights they provide the service that we take for granted in the morning.
“They are the unsung heroes of the British economy and our economic plan is going to help these hard working people as we move from rescue to recovery.”
