Campaigners for canal workers are to be honoured with the unveiling of plaques at Braunston Marina.
The plaques will be unveiled at a ceremony on Saturday, June 27.
The first is to honour the campaigner Sonia Rolt, who fought for the preservation of the canals and for better conditions for those who worked on them.
The second is to commemorate the 1923 Canal Strike, when boating families resisted an attempt by employers to drastically slash their wages.
Councillor Abigail Campbell (Lab, Braunston and Welton) said: “At a time when many ordinary working people in Daventry district are struggling to cope on zero hours contracts or are forced to rely on benefits to top up their pitifully low wages, it is great to see those who fought for workers’ rights in the past being remembered.”
The ceremony is being held at 10am.
