A NARROW boat moored at Weedon went up in flames over night.

The 57ft boat was on the Grand Union Canal near the Heart of The England pub, off the A45.

The fire service was alerted at around 1.20am on Wednesday, April 6, and two crews from Daventry plus one from Long Buckby were dispatched, along with the Red Cross fire victim support unit.

The blaze is believed to have been accidentally started by the boat’s wood burning stove.
