Can you identify people in mystery photograph from Daventry

The photo, attributed to AH Vogt, 4 High Street, Daventry, turned up in a bag of items donated to the Friends’ Hospice shop in Pissouri near Limassol on the Mediterranean island.

Keen to return it to its rightful owners, Margaret and Tony Hart, who run the shop, published an article in their local newsletter.

But after receiving no response they contacted Daventry District Council for help.

The council’s community projects team is eager to find out more information about the photo and, if possible, trace relatives of the people pictured.

Depending on its age it could form part of exhibitions being worked on by DDC in partnership with Daventry Town Council and Daventry & District Housing to commemorate the World War One Centenary this year.

Mrs Hart said: “We have a charity shop which supports the Friends’ Hospice in Paphos. We get a large amount of donations, and I believe the photo was in a bag that was handed in.

“We publicised it in the newsletter, but had no response, which was a shame. It is a lovely little historical photograph. It must belong to a Daventry family and it would be wonderful to be able to reunite them with it.”

AH Vogt was a photographer working in Daventry in the early part of last century. He is listed as owning the premises in 4 High Street in 1906, 27 New Street in 1910, 24 High Street in 1911/12 and 40 High Street by 1920.

Some of his photographs of scenes in the Daventry area still appear for sale on online auction sites.
