A TOTAL of £34 million will be spent to ensure superfast broadband is rolled out across Northamptonshire.
And the Daventry Express is launching a campaign to make sure we get our fair share of the cash.
The district has long had problems with slow internet connection speeds - in rural areas and in some parts of the town, including the centre. But now it’s time to make sure we are propelled into the 21st century.
The £34 million investment will see underground cables across the county upgraded from copper wire to fibre optic. New street-side cabinets will also be installed in a bid to make sure “90 per cent of the county has superfast connections”.
£4 million has been handed to Northamptonshire County Council (NCC) from Government department BDUK to help fund the project. The other £30 million will come from private sector broadband providers, such as BT.
