Developed by Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership, in conjunction with the county council, University of Northampton and teaching schools countywide, the aim of the campaign is to bring the best trainee teachers to the county.

Fronted by a website – www.theplacetoteach.com – the digital campaign is already attracting significant interest, not only from those thinking about training to teach, but also from those already in education.

Kate Dent, head of communications at NEP, said: “Northamptonshire is passionate about improving educational performance, and this collaborative campaign is a great example of our can-do attitude when it comes to making things happen. Given the interest so far, we’re confident this year-round campaign has the potential to add significant value to the County Council’s Race to The Top programme”.

Michael Thompson, teaching school manager at Fairfields Teaching School Alliance, said: “Northamptonshire is a great place to start your career, as the teaching school network provides very strong professional support. The county already has many talented teachers but with several new primary schools opening over the next few years, there will be a need for many more.

“Everyone says that Northamptonshire is a great place to live and work, because you can get to other places quickly, I say it’s a great place to live and work because you don’t need to go anywhere else for culture, sport, magnificent countryside and a fabulous education.”
