Cadet centre given the go ahead

PLANS to build a new centre for Daventry’s Army and Air cadets have been backed by councillors.

The purpose-built centre was given approval for the site between the Welton Road cemetery and allotments.

The application was made by Daventry District Council to its own planning department.

Currently the town’s Air Training Corps and Army Cadets share a building in Waterloo, off Warwick Street. But that area is set for regeneration under the district council’s plans.

A previous plan to locate the new centre near the Ashby Road Community Centre was blocked due to worries over noise.
